Big Valley Grace is a church that believes in actively reaching people in Modesto and the surrounding communities with the love of Jesus through compassion efforts, sharing the gospel, training church leaders and multiplying churches.

Several times a year we offer opportunities to reach our local community.

BagsOfGraceLOGO Bags of Grace is a Reach Ministry event that provides a 1 gallon plastic bag filled with basic items to help a person without a home. Each January, we would like to challenge our attenders and visitors to distribute a Bag of Grace to someone they encounter on the street, bringing joy to a person who might be going through a difficult time.   Bags may have some or all of the following examples:

  • Gospel of John Bible
  • travel shampoo
  • travel tissues
  • travel sanitizer
  • socks and/or beanie cap
  • granola bar
  • gum/mints
  • bottle of water
  • toothbrush/paste
  • lip balm
  • adhesive bandages
The Bible is more than our source of faith and practice. It contains God’s wisdom for every area of life. Biblical Principles of Government will help build a more complete worldview based on biblical principles. In the class, the participant learns how to identify faith-based decision processes for government, history, economics, education, charity and the proper role in society for family, church and state. Upcoming classes: August 2018 at Big Valley Grace Community Church. For more information, contact [email protected]
Each summer, our Reach Ministry at Big Valley Grace partners with Modesto Gospel Mission (MGM) to collect NEW shoes for Westside and Airport district students in need. The shoes are collected for three weeks  at BVG Weekend Gatherings, then distributed by MGM at their annual Back To School event before the students begin their new year. For information about Kicks 4 Kids shoe drive and how you can become involved throughout the year, contact Reach

REACH out to our Local Partners through encouragement notes! The small blessing of receiving a surprise note of encouragement speaks volumes to our partners. Please consider sending correspondence on a regular basis to help uplift the spirits of our missionaries! THANK YOU!!
Perspectives is a fifteen week class designed around four vantage points or “perspectives” — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God’s global purpose by inspiring people to live strategically by going into missions, supporting financially, mobilizing churches and/or becoming a prayer warrior. Discover what God is doing around the world and find your part in His purposes through this life-changing course. To find out more about Perspectives and how you can become involved, visit Perspectives Home Page or sign up online at Modesto Perspectives  for upcoming classes in 2018.
Every fall, Reach Ministry hosts our Global and Local Partners during our Reach Conference event, spotlighting and blessing the missionaries as they gather at Big Valley Grace to inform our church family about their various organizations and ministries to reach different cultures and communities through compassion ministry, Biblical teaching and Christian materials. We incorporate our partners into several BVG on-site ministries, home growth groups and throughout the Weekend Gatherings. During our weekend events, we encourage our BVG family to stop by the various tables to meet our local and global missions partners, learn about their organizations and find out how to help and be involved in practical ways, including prayer, regular correspondence, financial support, short-term trips and  other opportunities. We also recommend visiting our Reach Partner Prayer Page to become acquainted with our partners’ updated prayer needs and praises.
thanksgivingreachfinal_webOn the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Reach Ministry and Good Samaritan Ministry of Big Valley Grace partner together for a food drive to provide Thanksgiving meals for more than 600 families in our community who are in need. Big Valley Grace volunteers will gather on campus to help distribute groceries to local families who will be picking up the food and possibly coming to church for the first time. Thanksgiving Reach is a family-friendly event and a wonderful way to be a blessing during the holiday season. On the day of our event, we are always in need of available volunteers and provide online registration for the following stations to help with distribution: Welcome team, greeters and information team, hospitality team, registration team, ticket taker team, prayer team and grocery cart runners.  If you would like further details on how you, your family and friends can volunteer with this amazing ministry, please contact Katie Fuentes to find out details.
