At a time of year usually reserved for tradition, why Philippians? Often, we associate joy with our surroundings or our life condition. However, joy is something far more deeply rooted and evident. In Christ, joy becomes a characteristic; it becomes an immovable outpouring of our faith. In light of this Christmas season’s unprecedented difficulties, we want to look not only at the arrival of Christ, but at the joy-filled life Christ offers to all who put their faith in him.
We hope to be challenged by the apostle Paul’s unshakable and contagious JOY IN THE FAITH that moved Paul, a citizen of Heaven residing here on earth, to proclaim:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” - Philippians 4:4 (NIV)
