ourmission

love God.

love people.

make disciples.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” -Matthew 22:37-40

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20

The Great Commandment and the Great Commission form the mission of Big Valley Grace to love God, love people, and make disciples. It not only informs how we live and obey what Jesus commanded, but our desire and effort to encourage others to obey all that Jesus commanded as well.

glorify God.

When Big Valley Grace Community Church began, God led the group of men seeking to start a church in Modesto, CA to a particular passage: 1 Corinthians 10:31. Our purpose, the reason we exist, was established to bring God glory in all that we do!

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.  - 1 Corinthians 10:31

Our purpose is closely tied to our Core Values, because we value that which brings God glory! Our purpose is also closely tied to our Mission, since loving God, loving people, and making disciples is a mission aimed and aligned at bringing God glory.

Big Valley Grace has 5 Core Values that reveal our heart's desire for the spiritual growth of our church body. Our Core Values emphasize 5 key areas that we want every follower of Christ to walk in.

We value worshipping God above all else. This includes offering our bodies as sacrifices to our Lord and bringing honor to Him in all we do. We value serving others as we discover our gifts and role in the body of Christ. We value reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We value connecting in Christ-centered community and living life with other followers of Jesus. We value growing in the Word of God as we use the Bible to provide us with truth and guide our daily living.
