Being members of Christ’s family means we pray for the larger church, while specifically praying for the local family of believers. We are spending 45 days praying for our church, ministries and ministry leaders leading up to Easter. We’ve developed this prayer guide to help us pray together in unity. Each day describes how someone might pray for a ministry or initiative of the church. We are excited that our church will spend time each day praying for Big Valley Grace and its leadership with aligned purpose. Thank you for joining us!

Week One: March 5-11

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Romans 12:11 (NIV)

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:13 (NIV)

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
Colossians 4:2-4 (NIV)

Pray that the Lord would move those that call Big Valley Grace their church to pray for the church.

For protection over his marriage and family.

That he is the husband and father the Lord has asked him to be.

Pray for humbleness and attention to the details of preparation as they depend on the Spirit to guide their steps.

Week Six+: April 9-18

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,“Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
Matthew 21:6-11 (NIV)

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face. Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!” As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!” But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.” The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”
John 19:1-7 (NIV)

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle. Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19:16-19 (NIV)

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
John 19:28-30 (NIV)

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.  Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Matthew 28:1-7 (NIV)

Pray for our Production Team as they wrap up the final preparations for our weekend gatherings.

That they are encouraged and full of joy.

Thank the Lord for their faithful work and creativity along with incredible knowledge that they devote each week to helping us worship the Lord on every campus.

Pray specifically for our Online Campus and the technical knowledge it takes to make an amazing environment of worship for those unable to attend in person and the many visitors that will first attend Big Valley Grace online.

For Pastor Brandon as he faithfully serves our Online Campus during many different hours, reaching people that would so often be left out of our physical church interactions.

Praise the Lord for his passion and knowledge and the way in which the Lord is using him to reach hundreds of people each week with the message of the Gospel and discipleship opportunities.

Our Production and Online Ministry team: Tim Giannosa, Matt Tanis, Gerrit Ericksen, Randy Schwantes, Brandon Peterson, Madison Giannosa

Pray for this weekend—the Triumphal Entry of Jesus—Palm Sunday.

That the message of Jesus’ Lordship over all and in all, is well communicated, and that His majesty and kingly position is understood and embraced by all who hear.

That the love and grace of Jesus’ sacrifice would compel us to pray for our families and neighbors.

And that we would faithfully walk the streets of our neighborhoods, inviting families to attend one of our upcoming Easter gatherings.

Pray for the varied preparations being made for our Easter Gatherings.

Specifically for our teachers of the Word, as we desire in every area of our church throughout every ministry, that the Word of God be accurately, boldly and passionately proclaimed and taught.

The enemy would like to see us distracted and to forsake prayer and preparation for less urgent duties. Pray against such distraction for our teachers and worship leaders.

The enemy would like to pick and pull at our marriages and families distracting our pastors from focusing on the wonderful celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection. Pray against such difficulty in our marriages and family, pray for protection, unity and the overflow of patience.

Pray against division and disunity among our church, that we would all be of singular focus in celebrating our risen Savior and inviting many to hear the message and hope of Christ ALIVE.

Pray blessing and favor as many continue their prayer walks throughout our neighborhoods.

Ask the Lord to move in unconventional ways bringing about dynamic conversations and opportunities to share the Gospel as well as invitations to an Easter Gathering.

Pray that the eyes of those doing prayer walks would be open to see how acts of love and service might encourage a neighbor and open the door to the life transforming, grace filled Gospel of Christ.

Pray for the invitations people have made for their neighbors to join them for one of our Easter gatherings.

Spend time praying for the many neighborhoods our church is praying for and inviting to Easter gatherings.

For whole neighborhoods, that are not your own, to be won for Christ as God uses the faithfulness of Big Valley Grace members and attenders.

Tonight walk your own neighborhood in prayer and fight for your neighbors, asking the Lord to intervene in their lives just as he intervened in yours.

Ask the Lord to adopt your neighbors into His great family, just as He has adopted you.

Ask the Lord for tremendous fruit and the overflow of His blessing on our Easter Gatherings.

Pray that many will give their lives to Christ and will walk in the hope of Jesus.

That each person who says “Yes!” to salvation will learn to walk in faithfulness and commit to growing in this community of believers.

Ask the Lord to prepare our church and its members to disciple each and every new follower of Jesus.

IT’S GOOD FRIDAY!! This is the day we contemplate and even celebrate the death of Jesus Christ. This is a weighty moment for believers and followers of Jesus. Our Lord, propelled by His love for us, was crucified to save us from the penalty of death that was levied against each of us. He gave His life on our behalf because there was no other way.

Pray that many will hear the movements and voice of the Holy Spirit that is calling them to repentance and surrender.

That many would recognize their depravity and find forgiveness for their sins and freedom from the bondage sin holds on their life.

Thank the Lord for His loving sacrifice that we can have life in Him.

This is RESURRECTION WEEKEND—the beginning of an amazing weekend of worship gatherings that will proclaim the resurrection of Christ. Death is defeated and all are invited to life through Christ. The darkness has given way to light, and the brightness of the resurrection morning brings an invitation to those near and far to receive the gift of grace and follow Jesus into a life of abundant blessing and eternal reward.

Pray for all the preparations and final details as we raise the curtain and our voices to herald the resurrection message.

For all who received an invitation to join us this weekend, to not only say “Yes!” to joining us, but more importantly, “Yes!” to life in Christ.

HE IS RISEN! Pray for all those that will serve today proclaiming through song, testimony, service and the Word of God that Jesus is ALIVE and all can find life in Him.

Pray that all those who were faithfully invited will attend one of our gatherings.

That the Holy Spirit would move in mighty ways.

That people will answer the Holy Spirit’s call on their life, and that they would faithfully answer “Yes!” to life in Jesus.

Thank the Lord and celebrate today with all of heaven that our Lord has risen and rejoice that today many will surrender their lives to Christ. PRAISE JESUS!!

Pray for the many who came to an Easter Gathering. We have celebrated the Lord’s resurrection and invited many to hear the message of life found in Jesus.

For the many follow-up conversations that will take place.

For those who made decisions to follow Christ, that each would grow in their understanding, knowledge and commitment to the Lord.

Pray for those who have been invited to the Follow Class and other groups, that nothing would hinder their involvement in growing in knowledge and faith.

That the enemy would have no influence in the lives of those who said “Yes!” to following Jesus, and that they would indeed experience the fullness of living ALIVE in Christ.

“Prayer, in many ways, is the supreme expression of our faith in God.” —Martyn Lloyd-Jones

“A prayerless church member is a hindrance. He is in the body like a rotting bone or a decayed tooth. Before long, since he does not contribute to the benefit of his brethren, he will become a danger and a sorrow to them. Neglect of private prayer is the locust which devours the strength of the church.” —Charles Spurgeon

“The one concern of the Devil is to keep Christians from praying. He cares nothing for prayerless work, prayerless study, or prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, he mocks our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray!” —Samuel Chadwick

Salvation

Church

I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.

Psalm 77:11-12 (NIV)

Remember God’s miracles…

Noah and the great flood

Jonah in the belly of the fish

The walls of Jericho came tumbling down

The Red Sea was split in two

David slays Goliath

Daniel in the lions den

The feeding of the 5000

Jesus walks on water

Lazarus raised from the dead

The lame walked, the deaf heard, and the blind could see

Remember the miracle that God did in your own life!

For their salvation.

That you would be able to build a relationship with them.

Pray that they would come to our Easter weekend.
