QUICK GUIDE | INSTALL & START

Bless Every Home is an app to help you pray for your actual neighbors! This tool provides you with the names of those in your neighborhood, so you can pray for them by name, build relationships, share the gospel, and disciple those who live around you.

Big Valley Grace has signed up as a church, and many of our pastors are already using this App. Look for more information in the coming weeks about how you can sign up to be a Light in your neighborhood.

What are Neighborhood Meetups?

We believe that God has placed each of us at a residence for a reason. Neighborhood Meetups are simply opportunities to get outside and host a casual get-together with your neighbors! Let’s be good neighbors in our city and fight the “backyard tendency” by getting out front!

2023 Neighborhood Meetups

Memorial Day is a federal holiday that falls on the last Monday of May. As the weather has typically begun to get warmer, people will naturally be outdoors, allowing for a great opportunity to connect with and meetup with your neighbors!

ACTIVITY IDEAS

– LAWN GAMES: Organize some lawn games in your front yard and invite your neighbors to join! Ring toss, mini golf, corn hole, or ladder golf are all great options for kids and adults alike.

– FRONT YARD BBQ:  Bring out the grill and some lawn chairs, and invite your neighbors to a front yard barbecue!

The Fourth of July is a great opportunity to kick off our Neighborhood Meetups! Choose a time that works for you and invite some of your neighbors to bring a lawn chair and drop by with their family!

ACTIVITY IDEAS

– FIREWORKS: This is a great chance to invite your neighbors over for some fireworks! Sparklers for the kids, some fountain fireworks on a ladder, this is a recipe for some great “get to know you” time! Good chance some other neighbors might wander out to join you too!

– PORCH/DRIVEWAY HANGOUT:  If earlier in the day, invite your neighbors over for a casual front yard tailgate! Enjoy some outdoor or lawn games, serve up some patriotic snacks, have some good music playing, some hotdogs or s’mores on a portable grill, or even let the kids run through the sprinklers!

National Night Out is the first Tuesday in August and is recognized across the country as an evening to be outside among neighbors to build strong, anti-drug & anti-crime communities!

ACTIVITY IDEAS

– MOVIE NIGHT: Set a show time and invite your neighbors to bring a lawn chair and their favorite movie snack! Use a projector on an outdoor screen or the garage door (need help figuring this out, let us know!)

– GAME NIGHT: Prepare a game or several, ranging from charades to a cornhole tournament, and make an evening of it! Let your neighbors know what the game is and when to drop by!

Labor Day is the first Monday in September and often signals the summer season and break coming to an end. Labor Day is a federal holiday across the United States, so it’s a great day to host a meetup since there’s a good chance your neighbors are free and looking for what to do!

ACTIVITY IDEAS

– CHALK WALK: If your neighbors have kids, invite them over to make a “Chalk Walk” outside on the sidewalk in the neighborhood! Including hopscotch, a bible verse or other encouragement, and instructions to make the walk fun (jumping, avoiding certain elements, running, puzzles, etc.).

– BBQ/PICNIC: Find a spot with shade and invite your neighbors to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for a little grilling or picnic! Nothing fancy, even some skewers and some hotdog grilling is a win! If not the grilling type, invite your neighbors to bring a picnic and enjoy eating all together as a neighborhood!

Halloween is a popular American holiday where neighbors, especially families, are naturally out of their homes and out in the neighborhood!

ACITVITY IDEAS

– PUMPKIN CARVING: During the day, invite your neighbors to bring their own pumpkin and enjoy a time of decorating and/or carving! Set out some old newspapers or some covering on the driveway and start getting creative with those pumpkins!

– DRIVEWAY TRUNK OR TREAT: Invite your neighbors to come over and hang out “tailgate style” during the early trick-or-treat rush (before too dark and when most of the younger families are out)! Pool the neighborhood candy and pass it out together and meet even more neighbors!

– DINNER OR BBQ: Invite some neighbors over for a pre-Trick-or-Treat dinner, or put together a simple neighborhood BBQ.

– GIFT BAGS: Put together a simple gift bag for the children in your neighborhood.

– SIT AND STAY: Get comfortable outside instead of indoors. It’s more welcoming, and you’ll foster better conversations.

– HOT DRINKS: Have hot drinks and small water bottles available.

– DECORATE YOUR OWN COOKIE: Buy store bought sugar cookies and have frosting and decorations available.

– GAMES: Play games and let kids win their candy:

– Pumpkin bowling

– Bean bag toss

– Fishing for candy

– Ping Pong ball toss into a pumpkin

– Tic tac toe

– Guess how much candy

– CRAFTS: Have a craft station! Put together some quick simple craft kits that kids can make on the spot.

– DRIVEWAY MOVIE: Use a projector to show a kid friendly movie. A white bed sheet hung over your garage door makes the perfect screen.

– FACE PAINTING

– PHOTO BOOTH: Just create a fun backdrop and let everyone take photos with their cell phones.

– Hand out popcorn bags or hot dogs

– Have glow sticks available to hand out

– Pull out your tv and have the playoff game on

– Have a fire pit going in your driveway

– Pull out your classic car for kids and adults to take photos in front of (or just admire)
