Week 1 — Wednesday: Why Should Prayer Be A Priority?
1 Thessalonians 5:17
How well do you think you would know your father if you never talked to him? How well would you know him if you talked for 5 minutes a day? Once a day? Every other day? If you wanted a deeper relationship, wouldn’t you take the time to connect, share, talk, and just be together? Wouldn’t you make spending time together a priority?
Well, God is our Father and we are His children, so the same principle holds here. How do we connect, share, talk, and be with God? We do it through prayer, which is simply talking to God. God wants to talk to us so it’s no wonder The Bible commands us to pray “without ceasing,” which means literally all the time (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
He is there and always available like a super secure spiritual internet connection. We can lose connection with our smartphones or watches, but our spiritual Wi-Fi connection to God never goes out (1 John 5:15)! You only have to make it a priority to have “screen time” with Him!
Why pray?
Is it important for us to get to know our Creator? Then prayer is a priority because a good relationship requires communication (Jeremiah 29:12-14).
Is it important for us to seek help with things we cannot do ourselves? Then prayer is a priority because we can ask God for help (Matthew 21:22).
Is it important to desire good things for our loved ones and friends? Then once again prayer is a priority because He commands us to pray for one another (James 5:16).
A hotline to the Creator of the Universe is waiting to be used. All we need to do is make it a priority to simply use it.

September 6, 2023 at 7:19 amI love this! It’s sooo true! I love how it relates to today! It nudges us to realize that God is our “Ultimate Supreme Smart Phone!” urging us to make Him our source of leading not what “we/ man” thinks is important. (Not that I would ever compare God to a smart phone!) The scripture verses are wonderful, also!
Sincerely, In Christ
